Godmother

The Iranian peace Nobel Prize Laureate (2003) Shirin Ebadi presides over the congress in Merano as a “godmother”.

The engaged human rights activist and feminist, former judge and chairperson of the court of Tehran, will hold a talk on the fight against discrimination and exploitation of women in Iran during the opening day of the congress on June 11th, 2008

Shirin Ebadi was awarded the Nobel Prize for her significant and pioneering efforts for democracy and human rights, especially women's and children's rights.

To win her approval to become the “godmother” is honoring the congress because she rendered outstanding services to the rights of women.

Dr. Ebadi’s longstanding international experiences will draw large interest in the congress members, as
well as her presence will attract a lot of media attention on the congress and thereafter.

This congress stands under the special protection of the Italian Ministry of Rights and Equal Opportunities.
